Andrew Wreford - A Day Of A Technical Manager At Rittal
Collaboration and communication are key within industry, especially when it comes to working on projects which involve technology. Andrew Wreford, Rittal's Technical Manager is critical to assisting customers with any on-site issues but also assisting with any technical IT-related queries. We recently met with Andrew to understand more about his role and life within Rittal:
What Does A Typical Day Look Like for Andrew?
Andrew is a technical manager at Rittal and has been working at Rittal for sixteen years. His days vary - from solving issues on-site to doing small amounts of service, upgrading products, or dipping into the sales side at Rittal. However, Andrew mainly deals with technical enquiries, such as the installation of IT cooling units, site surveys for installation, judging pipework and distances between coolers and condensers, monitoring of access control and power distribution etc.
In addition, Andrew manages IT products. Andrew also acts as a link between technical support and head office. For example, Andrew can take an external technical enquiry to the head office in Germany for specific information he may need. The communication with the head office in Germany is smooth and instant so customers will never have to wait long for an answer. Andrew also takes part in marketing duties, such as writing blogs or creating product videos!
What Is A Typical Enquiry Andrew Has To Deal With?
Someone who wants to install IT equipment but doesn’t want to install a whole data centre, they just want an enclosure where they can put their equipment. However, IT equipment in an enclosure generates heat, so cooling and monitoring has to be set up. This is the most typical enquiry Andrew gets.
What Is Andrew’s Favourite Rittal Product?
Andrew’s favourite product is LCPCW (Inline cooling unit based on chilled water). It is very energy efficient, removing heat from an IT rack.
What Is Andrew’s Favourite Thing About Working At Rittal?
Andrew believes that Rittal is the solution to the IT market and that Rittal is the whole portfolio - it is a one-stop shop. Rittal can do the whole package and provide you with a range of great products.
