Unveiling the Three Major Benefits of Enclosure Heaters

Written by Rittal Limited | Aug 22, 2023 7:30:00 AM

Enclosure heaters are lightweight compact heating systems designed for installation in electrical cabinets and enclosures that contain IT or electrical equipment.

The purpose is to sustain a consistent internal temperature within enclosures that may be exposed to extreme temperatures or humidity, for example from frost or condensation, which may damage the equipment.

There are several types of electrical enclosure heaters available, these vary in size due to the heat output that they can provide. The larger the enclosure, the larger the pocket of air that the enclosure heater will have to keep at a minimum temperature and therefore, it will be necessary to choose a bigger enclosure heater or multiple which have the necessary heat output to maintain a suitable temperature within your electrical enclosure.

Let’s Look At The Three Primary Benefits Of Using Enclosure Heaters

1. Protection From Moisture

Electrical enclosure heaters protect delicate electrical and IT assets from the build-up of moisture and condensation within the cabinet, which naturally occurs whenever the internal temperature of the cabinet is higher than the outside ambient temperature, or if there is insufficient ventilation. If unchecked, moisture build-up can lead to corrosion and component failure, resulting in costly downtime and repairs for businesses. With an efficient enclosure heater, you can maintain optimum humidity in your cabinets and prolong the life of your equipment.

2. Temperature And Condensation Control

Electrical enclosure heaters are especially useful for freeze and condensation control in electrical and IT enclosures, preventing the possibility of freezing conditions occurring which could cause irreversible damage to sensitive machinery and electronics.

3. Maximise Uptime

By providing reliable and consistent temperatures within your electrical enclosures, enclosure heaters can maximise uptime and keep your operation running smoothly, reducing interruptions and avoiding unscheduled downtime.
